FAQ - Black History is Church History

What is Black History Is Church History?

Black History Is Church History is a one-day discipleship gathering that explores the global history of the Church — highlighting the often-overlooked contributions, theology, and faithfulness of African and African-American believers throughout history.

This gathering exists to bring clarity, context, and a fuller understanding of how God has worked across cultures and centuries.

Is this event only for Black Christians?

No. This history belongs to the whole Church.  Believers of every background are welcome.

Our aim is to strengthen the Church’s shared understanding of God’s global work — and to grow together in unity, humility, and truth.

What will be taught?

You can expect historically grounded, theologically sound teaching focused on:

• Early African Christianity

• Overlooked theologians and martyrs

• The global spread of the Church

• The faith of African and African-American believers

• God’s faithfulness across cultures and centuries

Teaching will be presented in a respectful, thoughtful, and Christ-centered manner.

Is this a political event?

No.  This gathering is rooted in Scripture and church history, not modern political movements.

Our focus is on theological clarity, historical truth, and worshipful reflection on God’s work in the Church.

Will this feel academic or accessible?

Both.  Teaching is historically rich, but presented in a way that is clear, engaging, and accessible for everyday believers — not just scholars or pastors.

Is this appropriate for families or students?
