Black History is Church History
A gathering reclaiming the global story of God’s faithfulness.
For too long, the stories of God’s faithfulness among African and African-American believers have been placed at the margins of church history and treated as a separate category rather than as central threads of the Church’s story.
We believe this history belongs to the whole Church.
WHY THIS MATTERS
This conference exists to restore clarity, dignity, and perspective to the Church’s global story.
Not to create a new category of history —
but to recover what has too often been overlooked.
To Educate
We explore the Great Cloud of Witnesses that many history books omit — from early African theologians and martyrs, to the intellectual rigor of the ancient African Church, to the faithfulness of enslaved believers in America.
You will encounter the depth, continuity, and global reach of the Church’s story.
To Exalt
Jesus Christ is the hero of every story we tell.
Our aim is that Christ would be magnified for the ways He has built, sustained, and empowered His Church across cultures and centuries — so that God receives the full weight of our worship.
CELEBRATING 5 YEARS IN HUNTSVILLE
This year marks the 5th anniversary of the Black History Is Church History conference.
What began as a local vision has grown into a cornerstone gathering for the Huntsville community, a space where believers gather annually to engage a fuller, more global understanding of the Church.
For five years, this conference has served as a place to recover overlooked stories of God’s faithfulness and to respond with deeper worship, clarity, and unity.
